‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace’ gets 2018 release date
Heads up, true crime fans! There's been a change in the "American Crime Story" lineup, and it looks the name 'Andrew Cunanan' will see circulation earlier than expected as "The Assassination of Gianni Versace" will air ahead of "Katrina."
Entertainment Weekly reported this week that "Versace", currently in production, has been confirmed as the follow up to last year's "The People v. O.J. Simpson."
"Versace" will premiere in 2018, the same time that "Katrina" is set to begin production.
As its title suggests, "The Assassination of Gianni Versace" will focus on the fatal shooting of Gianni Versace in Miami by Filipino-American serial killer Andrew Cunanan.
The crime shocked many, making headlines across the world in 1997. It was later discovered that Cunanan murdered four other people prior to his suicide nine days after killing Versace.
For the show, Cunanan will be portrayed by Fil-Am actor Darren Criss and Versace will be played by Edgar Ramirez.
Ricky Martin and Penelope Cruz will play supporting roles as sister Donatella and boyfriend Antonio D’Amico.— AT/ LA, GMA News
