Imus, Cavite celebrates National Flag Day and the Battle of Alapan
The local government of Imus, Cavite began the commemoration of National Flag Day at the Dambana ng Pambansang Watawat Miguel Santo, Alapan II-B in Imus on Sunday, May 28.
The event also remembered the Battle of Alapan, which was fought on May 28, 1898 and was Emilio Aguinaldo's first victory upon returning from exile in Hong Kong.
Officers of the Philippine Navy raised the flag, while dancers from the Teatro Baile de Cavite performed.
The flag-raising ceremony was attended by local government executives as well as officers from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and former Prime Minister Cesar Virata, a great-nephew of Aguinaldo's.
The National Flag Day celebrations are held from May 28 to June 12, Independence Day.
