Get to know the Miss Global Philippines candidates

The 22 young women set to compete for the title of Miss Global Philippines 2017 walked the runway for a press presentation last Thursday.

According to a report by Lhar Santiago on Balitanghali, the candidates made their entrances clad in yellow dresses, then changed into pink bikinis flaunting their perfectly toned figures.

The candidates each had a story to tell. One was a victim of abuse. "I want to tell other women out there who are abused: don't ever settle for less than what you think you deserve. You must also rise and take a bigger role in the society," said Fina Jellene Gulapa.

Charmaine Aller wants to support her family, especially since they lost their father in 2014. "I am the third eldest and I am the one who provides for their needs," she said.

Christine Balaguer said she wants people to see that "even though I am deaf, I can join a beauty pageant."

The winner of the pageant will promote Philippine tourism here and abroad. The Miss Global Philippines 2017 grand coronation night will be held on June 24 at the Newport Performing Arts theater in Resorts World Manila, and will air on GMA in July.
