What devotees ask from Our Lady of Fatima

Maria Bagsik was one of those who joined the eucharistic celebration in the Philippines to mark the 100th year of the apparition of the Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal.

Despite being in a wheelchair and the pain caused by her arthritis, she still chose to witness the celebration for the Virgin Mary in the Our Lady of Fatima Chapel in Pasay City.

Ibig sabihin malakas pa pakiramdam ko," she said, noting that she has been praying for her condition to improve.

But, most of the time, her prayer is for her family.

Nanay Maria has been a devotee of the Our Lady of Fatima since the 1970s.

Aida Orbesa, 62, who has not married, devotes her time to the Our Lady of Fatima.

She admitted that she does not pray the rosary everyday, however, she always attends the Holy Mass.

Nanay Aida said she has been praying to the Virgin Mary for good health .

The Virgin Mary is said to have appeared six times in Fatima, north of Lisbon, between May and October 1917 to three impoverished children -- Jacinta, 7, Francisco, 9, and their cousin Lucia, 10.

The two, Francisco and Jacinta Marto, died after the apparitions. They were canonized as saints by Pope Francis.

The third visionary, Lucia Dos Santos, became a nun and died in 2005 at the age of 97.

The Church believes the Madonna gave the children three messages, the so-called secrets of Fatima. —ALG, GMA News
