Gerald Santos en route to London for Miss Saigon UK

It's the start of a new adventure for "Prince of Ballad" Gerald Santos.

The singer-actor on Saturday shared a quick snap from a plane en route to London, where rehearsals are set to begin for the upcoming UK and Ireland tour of the acclaimed musical Miss Saigon.

"Goodbye for now my beloved Philippines!! See you soon London! Pray for me guys!! THIS IS IT!!!!" he wrote in the caption.

Santos will be playing the part of Thuy and sharing the stage with fellow Filipino thespians Red Concepcion and Joreen Bautista.

Concepcion was cast as The Engineer, while Bautista will alternate with Sooha Kim in the role of Kim.

Santos gained prominence after winning the second season of GMA Network's "Pinoy Pop Superstar". Prior to his stint on television, Santos was nominated for an Aliw Award for his performance in "Sino Ka Ba, Jose Rizal." He would eventually win Aliw Awards for two of his concerts.

Miss Saigon UK opens at the Curve Leicester in England, where it will run from July 1 to July 22. — AT, GMA News
