QC gov’t to revitalize Maginhawa as tourism district

Plans to develop the Maginhawa Art and Food Hub in Quezon City has been approved by Mayor Herbert Bautista.

On February 16, Bautista signed Ordinance 2559-2017, which contains the details of the revitalization project that covers the 2.2 kilometer-stretch of Maginhawa Street up to V. Luna Extension, including the adjacent Malingap, Magiting and Mayaman Streets.

Maginhawa was previously declared a tourism district in 2014 under Ordinance 2439.

The Maginhawa area is home to several crowd-attracting food parks, as well as destination restaurants that cater to different palates and serve diverse cuisine.

"With Maginhawa Street and the streets adjacent to it becoming one of metro’s top art and gastronomic destinations, it is but proper and fitting for the city government to support the area in terms of site development, security and other improvements to foster growth and progress." the proponent of the ordinance Councilor Allan Benedict Reyes said. — Aya Tantiangco/RSJ, GMA News
