‘Beauty in giving’ at the heart of Miss World PHL 2016 Gala Charity Night
Miss World Philippines 2016 on Tuesday held its Gala Charity Night at Enderun Colleges.
According to Miss World Philippines national director Cory Quirino, the fundraising event is devoted to CQ Global Quest's flagship projects, PGH Medical Foundation and Tuloy Street Children Village Foundation.
"It is called beauty in giving because isn't it the most beautiful thing ever to give, and what more if the person giving is also very beautiful. Giving is the very purpose of Miss World Philippines." she said, underscoring the purpose of the event.
The Gala Charity Night is the organization's chance to showcase beauty with compassion.
A bottle of Manny O. wine was auctioned for PGH Medical Foundation and Tuloy Street Children Village Foundation during the event, which was sold for P105,000. A separate private auction was held to raise more money for charity.
The auction was followed by the candidates strutting down the stage wearing pieces by various unrivaled local fashion designers, Rocky Gathercole, Pablo Mendez, Bessie Besana, Ryan Uson and a collection from Folded and Hung.
"If we had a magic wand we would use it and with one sweep of that wand, we would hope to remove the poverty, the pain, the oppression, the diseases all over the world, but it begins with one courageous, generous gesture and that is tonight," Quirino explained. — AT, GMA News
