Cyclists remember one of their own with Garalde tribute rides, ghost bike

On Sunday, bicycle riders and cycling advocates gathered at Rizal Park at 6 a.m. to ride to P. Casal Street in Quiapo, a nondescript location where Mark Garalde was shot dead on July 25 (Monday) by a motorist.

Bikers installed a Ghost Bike on the scene of the crime, as a reminder of the tragedy and a call for the avoidance of similar incidents in the future.

The day before, cyclists rode from Rizal Park to Camp Crame before heading to the crime scene in Quiapo for short prayers.

After lighting candles and offering prayers, the bikers went on to pay their respects to Garalde at his wake. The group also pooled money together to help Garalde's family financially.
