Meet the six: Quick facts about the 2016 Ramon Magsaysay Awardees

The Ramon Magsaysay Foundation on Wednesday announced in advance the names of this year's awardees. Foundation President Carmencita Abella told the press that it is their goal to share the light of Ramon Magsaysay more widely and inspire more individuals to advocate social good—and perhaps even take concrete action.

This year's awardees include two decades-old organizations that continue to empower underprivileged citizens; a group that grew from 14 people with an old donated ambulance into a 24-hour lifesaving hotline for road mishaps; and three individuals who use whatever resources they have to chip away at institutionalized injustice.
