New Bb. Pilipinas titlist Maxine Medina eyes back-to-back Miss Universe crowns for PHL
Maria Mika Maxine Medina was crowned as the new Binibining Pilipinas Universe on Sunday, April 17, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
The 25-year-old pageant first-timer, who also won the Binibining Philippine Airlines title, beat frontrunners Kylie Verzosa (No. 31, Binibining Pilipinas International) and Nichole Marie Manalo (No. 28, Binibining Pilipinas Globe).
She received the crown from no less than Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Maxine thanked God and everyone who was part of her Binibining Pilipinas journey.
“First of all, I would want to thank God for giving me an opportunity to experience this wonderful journey. I’m proud that I was able to reach at this point because I wanted to do something not only for myself but for my country as well,” the beauty queen from Quezon City said.
Maxine added, “It was not in my wildest dream that I would be able to become a beauty queen knowing that it's only my first time to join a prestigious pageant such as Binibining Pilipinas. Indeed, I was so nervous last night being in front of thousands of people. It was not that easy to stand and carry yourself but with the help and guidance of the Lord I was able to overcome my fear.”
She promised all her fans and every Filipino that she will do her best to bring pride to the country and, hopefully, achieve a back-to-back win for the Philippines in the prestigious Miss Universe international pageant.
“Rest assured that I will do my best to improve more and to be the pride of my country. Hopefully, a back to back win with the reigning Miss Universe @piawurtzbach with the help of the Lord. #binibiningpilipinas2016 #maxinatics #missuniverse2016,” the Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2016 said.
Joining Maxine in this year's line-up of Binibining Pilipinas titleholders are Kylie Verzosa as Binibining Pilipinas Miss International, Jennifer Hammond as Binibining Pilipinas Miss Interncontinental, Joanna Deapara as Binibining Pilipinas Supranational, Nicole Cordoves as Binibining Pilipinas Grand International, and Nichole Marie Manlao as Binibining Pilipinas Globe.
