Pia Wurtzbach gives her farewell speech as Binibining Pilipinas Universe

Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach has walked the stage as Binibining Pilipinas Universe for the last time.

Before crowning the new winner, she took the time to thank everyone who helped on her journey to being Miss Universe. She thanked BPCI and its chair Stella Araneta, her family, Aces and Queens, and Pianatics.

"In the years that I have appeared on this very same stage, my biggest realization is that you should never give up on your dreams. We should never waver in our perseverance. A dream is a picture of a possibility. We should have strong heart and a prepared mind to turn that into a reality," she told the large crowd present at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday. 

"In this moment, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to the people who have helped me win Miss Universe. If not for you, I would not have achieved this humble achievement," she continued. 

To her successor, she said "Remember to give your best. Behind that beautiful gown, your knees might be trembling. Like me right now, I'm still not used to it. I'm still not used to it. Being in front of millions can be nerve wracking. You have to remember that you are wearing that sash that proudly says Philippines. In your moment of doubt you, remember that you have the whole country cheering you on." 

"Tonight is the beginning of a journey for a confidently beautiful Filipina. Mabuhay ang gandag Filipina, mabuhay ang Filipina, mabuhay tayong lahat!"
