Pia Wurtzbach's Pinoy-made national costume for Miss Universe

Beauty queen Pia Wurtzbach is ready to show off the beauty of a dalagang Pilipina for the national costume competition during the preliminaries of the Miss Universe.

Binibining Pilipinas on its Facebook page gave a glimpse of the Filipina stunner's all-white gown by Filipino designer Albert Andrada.

A closer look of Wurtzbach's national costume showed that the gown included pearl and capiz shell details, as if the designer is paying homage to the Philippine seas.

Look at all the details on her Nat Cos. The amount of work that Albert Andrada and his dedicated team poured into this creation is just incredible.

Based on the comments sections, the gown earned the approval of enthusiasts and netizens, who praised Andrada and the team who put the gown together. Last year, Mary Jean Lastimosa's national costume was criticized and compared to cake "na kulang sa decoration."

Earlier, Wurtzbach almost had a mishap during the evening gown competition when the dress she was supposed to wear did not fit. But Los Angeles-based Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino, who was on a ski vacation in Aspen, saved the day and delivered a red serpentina gown for the beauty queen. —Trisa Macas/AT, GMA News
