LOOK: Boodle fight highlights Lapu-Lapu City’s 54th charter day

A festive and long boodle fight highlighted the 54th founding anniversary of Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu province on Wednesday.

Food-laden tables stretched from city hall to M.L. Quezon Avenue, GMA Cebu's Nikko Sereno reported Thursday.

Those who took part in the boodle fight included tourists, teachers, local government employees, and members of the local police and Philippine Navy.

But there was still so much food left over after the boodle fight that what was left was given to the inmates of the Lapu-Lapu City Jail.

A Mass preceded the boodle fight.

During a program marking the occasion, students showcased their talents to the delight of the crowd.

Mayor Paz Radaza voiced hopes Lapu-Lapu City will surpass this year its locally sourced income.

"I will never allow anybody to destroy transparency and accountability, the cornerstone of good governance that I have built together with all of you," she added.
