Back to school: Remembering the good old days with #FreshieSaSilliman

It was the ultimate throwback for former and present students of Silliman University in Dumaguete City.

Just days before the start of the new schoolyear, the hashtag #FreshieSaSilliman is making the rounds on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, especially among Sillimanians recalling memories of their first days in college.

The Silliman University Student Government (SUSG) came up with the hashtag for its upcoming "Genesis" event to welcome incoming freshmen to the university.

"The idea of #FreshieSaSilliman is to let Sillimanians remember their best memories of their days as freshmen, so that the coming freshmen this school year will be inspired to eventually make their own," SUSG president Kirk Philip Emperado told GMA News Online.

Emperado said they didn't expect the hashtag to trend. "I think it trended among Sillimanians because it's not that hard to make unique memories when you're in Silliman, and it's also because of the Silliman Spirit," he said.

He also described the trend as a "virtual reunion among Sillimanians across the globe."

Some reminisced about their classes and funny things they did as freshmen, while others posted photos from their freshman days.
