The Gregorian Choir of Paris will tour the Philippines from Feb. 19 to 27 "to echo through actual Gregorian chanting the resilience of the Filipino spirit," the French Embassy in Manila said.

In a post on its website, the embassy said the tour is endorsed by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines.

"For the first time ever, the prestigious ensemble will be performing in the Philippines to spread a spiritual message of hope and solidarity especially after moments of natural and man-made upheavals in the country," it said.

Some 26 singers, both male and female, will be coming to the Philippines featuring the acclaimed French organist Pascal Marsault, it added.

It said the singers come from France, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Colombia, Madagascar, Lithuania, Chile, and Republic of Korea.

According to the embassy, the choir will tour San Agustin Church in Intramuros on Feb. 19, as well as various Ayala malls nationwide.

It said the Gregorian Choir of Paris gathers musicians from all over the world, with the choir dedicated to cultivate the Gregorian chant.

Created in 1974, the choir has a mission to preserve and to spread the tradition of sacred chanting of the Gregorian chant.
