It’s that time of the year, and we’re not just talking about Christmas or New Year. It is the time when KPop fans gather round for a good cause while fangirling (or fanboying) over their favorite artists over the biggest KPop event of the year—the 6th Philippine KPop Convention, held last December 28, Sunday at the SMX Convention Hall.

Like the crawling traffic of the Christmas rush, fans slowed down and took their time to be with one of the hottest Korean girl groups, SISTAR.
Ma Boy
SISTAR debuted in 2010, but it wasn’t until their sub-unit SISTAR 19’s release of “Ma Boy” in 2011 that the group gained popularity.
The original song was released with only Hyorin and Bora in it, but it has become their staple song as a group. Since then, SISTAR has continued to rise and win awards such as the Best Female Group at the MNet Asian Music Awards, and the Bonsang (hit single/artist) Award at the Seoul Music Awards and Golden Disk Awards.
The four members of SISTAR namely (L-R) Dasom, Bora, Hyorin, and Soyu performs their claim to fame song Ma Boy at KCON6.
Continuing the success of “Ma Boy,” they have released more top singles, namely: “Alone,” “Give it to me,” “Touch my body,” and their most recent single “I Swear.”
Sorry boys, it’s Wolverine
During the Q&A portion, SISTAR revealed their ideal man—and it’s Hugh Jackman. The group met the Wolverine star last year while filming the variety show “Star King.” Since then, the group has fallen in love with the Aussie actor. Jackman even went as far as asking the group to be it’s fifth member.
Unfortunately for the girls, the “X-Men” star is not currently in the market; but for fanboys out there, these gorgeous women are looking for a guy who has a good personality and good chemistry with them, or in their words “good feeling,” and a “funny guy.”

SISTAR was also asked what they what would they be if they weren’t superstars. Group leader Hyorin answered that she’d be a veterinarian because she is “crazy about animals,” which brought laughter to the audience when the host asked “sino ang hayop rito?”
While the other members were specific: Bora wanted to be a professional dancer, and Dasom wanted to be a teacher, Soyu said she would choose to be anything, saying “everything is good.”
Being first-timers in the Philippines, they chose eating Jollibee and swimming in the sea or lounging in beaches as their must-tries.
“Beks... lafang na tayo para maka-rampa na” and more
The girls were known to always be game-on, especially in Korean variety shows. The SISTAR Talent show at KCON6 just proved that they are indeed ready for anything, namely: dancing to Ryzza Mae’s “Cha Cha,” interpreting beki language, and Gwiyoumi.
As a consequence, the loser will do a special performance for the fans. Hyorin sang an excerpt from her version of Frozen’s “Let It Go,” which was included in the Korean version soundtrack of the movie.
Selected fans also had their moment with their idols during the dress-up game and the group photo event.
What’s next for SISTAR? They want to be the number one Korean girl group and to have a solo concert tour. The Philippines may possibly be one of their stops if ever this materializes, judging the overwhelming welcome from their Filipino STAR1’s.
“We love Philippines, we never (knew there were) so many fans here,” Dasom added.
Capping the show was a performance of their latest single, “I Swear.”
Waiting all day for a few hours with them. SISTAR is known for their sexy moves and outfits. They closed the show with their latest sexy single, “I Swear.”
Just like last year, the convention hall was divided in two: by the fans, and for the fans.

The KCON tradition of KPop bingo urges fans to visit their favorite fanclub booths in order to win special prizes later at the bingo raffle. This booth is by Big Bang PH and Blackjacks PH.

Fans will perform special tasks that were presented on social media prior to the event. It can range from naming your favorite member which requires at least minimal knowledge of the group, to simple tasks such as copying the face on the photo as pictured above and matching the photos on a board at the JYJPH booth.

They can also buy original and imported from Korea or fan-made KPop goods of their favorite KPop stars.
