Cavite's capital Imus is all lit up during the Christmas season, and on December 1 the colorful lights of the belen in the city plaza were switched on, kicking off a series of holiday activities for the month.

According to a release from the City Tourism Office, these activities include the Christmas Carol Choral Competition, held among choral groups from elementary and high schools; and the Panulayan.

The Panuluyan is a reenactment of Joseph and Mary's search for a place where she could give birth to Jesus. The reenactors will visit four pre-selected locations in the city where they will ask to stay for the night. The Panulayan ends with the birth of Jesus and the visit of the Three Kings, who this year will be played by Mayor Emmanuel L. Maliksi, Vice Mayor Armando I. Ilano and 3rd District Rep. Alex Advincula.

Through Imus' Paskuhan activities, the city hopes to "bring back the missing touch of small-town Christmas spirit and cherished practices that are often sought by balikbayan and other travelers from here and abroad," said Municipal Tourism Officer Corazon del Mundo

"This is a glittering culmination to cap the year and showcase the heart and soul of Imus." — BM, GMA News
