Wines, cheeses, and yodeling ladies at ongoing Swiss Week

It's Swiss Week (all 11 days of it), and the Embassy of Switzerland and its partners have put together several cultural and culinary events to showcase the delights of this Alpine nation, beginning November 13.

Heat Restaurant, EDSA Shangri-La: Swiss chefs Thomas Wenger, former executive chef of Mandarin Oriental Manila and Makati Shangri-La, and Martin Kaspar, chef and owner of L’Entrecôte restaurant, will offer Swiss classics, including the raclette (a dish in which cheese is melted and scraped onto a plate). Lunch and dinner rates start at P1,790 net.

Eliane Amherd: Swiss-born but based in New York, jazz singer Eliane Amherd will perform at Murphy’s Pub and Grill in Legaspi Village (105 V.A. Rufino St. corner Esteban St.) on Saturday, November 15 at 9 p.m. No cover charge.

Swiss Yodel Ladies: Traditional Swiss yodelers Madlen Niederberger and Margrit Müller will be performing live during lunch and dinner at Heat restaurant from November 18 to 23.

Swiss wines: A wine-tasting event featuring Swiss wines courtesy of Werdenberg will take place at Shangri-la on November 19. Canapés and a 4-course dinner at Paparazzi are included in the P1,500 net price.

There will also be a special promotion of Swiss Wines at Heat. A "free flow" of select Swiss wines during lunch and dinner is available for P875.

Rizal Park Concert: Eliane Amherd will share the stage with the Swiss Yodel Ladies and the Swiss Singing Diplomat, Raoul & the Wild Tortillas, at a two-hour Concert at the Park at the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium on November 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free. — BM/VC, GMA News
