Cebu sets Guinness record for largest Zumba class
The Philippines over the weekend set a new world record, this time for holding the world's biggest Zumba class.
Cebu City bagged the distinction after Guinness World Record adjudicator Provin Patel confirmed at least 8,232 people took part in the Zumba class at SM City, "Balita Pilipinas Ngayon" reported Monday.
It was more than the 6,671 participants in India in 2012, the report said.
For the Zumba class, GWR required a non-stop 30-minute dance of basic Zumba. Leading the event was the certified Zumba Instructors Network (ZIN) in the Philippines.
Patel said he was impressed with the participants' discipline where they followed instructions quickly yet maintained a lighthearted demeanor.
He also appreciated the security provided by the new trainees of the Police Regional Office 7.
Pink ribbon
But Cebu failed to break India’s record of forming the world’s largest human pink ribbon as part of an awareness campaign for breast cancer.
According to the Philippine Information Agency, Cebu fell short of India’s 6,847 participants by 200 people. — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
