A KPop Sunday at the KNation Music Showcase

KissMe’s have their latest U-KISS album, 'Mono Scandal', signed by their favorite Korean pop group.

Ubiquitous Korean pop group U-KISS was back in the country as part of the KNation Music Showcase at the SMX Convention Hall last October 5, Sunday. Some fans couldn’t contain their excitement and the band had to remind them to be careful, keep safe, and not to push each other. The fans—known as KissMe's—lined up to get their latest album signed by the boys. After the fan signing, the tables and chairs were set aside and the band stood on the stage to say: “We’ll be coming back later.”

The event also featured fellow KPop artists MPire, 4L, and BIGSTAR, with the special participation of Winner’s Dance Crew.

Groovin’ on the dance floor

Crayon Pop’s cover group entertained the audience with their colorful costumes and unusual dance steps.

During the artists’ break, various local cover groups took the stage to show off their KPop moves to their fellow fans. They were followed by Korean B-boy dance group Winners Crew, who thrilled with their breakdancing and gravity-defying stunts.

The group’s dance performance was divided into two. The boys went first, then the ladies followed with power dance moves and several costume changes that kept the fans going.

It was the dance crew’s first time to perform in the Philippines.

A fresh introduction

KPop girl group 4L (Four Ladies) perform their debut single 'Move.'

From groups to new members, first-timers couldn’t hide their happiness to see their budding Filipino fans here. 4L (Four Ladies) graced the stage with their sexy dance moves and their version of Psy’s international hits “Gentleman” and “Gangnam Style.”

Another first-timer, BIGSTAR, showcased to the Filipino fans their energy-filled skills.

Second-timer MPire, who performed here just last July, introduced their Chinese member Red, who wasn’t able to come last time.

Surprise!

Birthday boy Baram and Feeldog taste the delicious cake Only One’s (official fanclub name) gave them.

Baram of BIGSTAR celebrated his 24th birthday during the concert. The fans gave him a chocolate cake and all together sang "Saengil chukha hamnida" (Happy Birthday).

Another surprise was 4L’s overflowing cuteness during their band introduction. Flashing heart signs and showing their aegyo was a stark contrast from the sexy image that they are known for.

4L members Ye-Seul, Chany, J-Na, and Ja-Young couldn’t hide their excitement and happiness about performing for their Filipino fans.

But the biggest surprise of all was when BIGSTAR member Sunghak actually sang “Anak” by Freddie Aguilar. He learned the song because his father would listen old Filipino songs. Little did he know as a child listening to his father’s classic OPM songs that he would one day end up coming to the Philippines to perform his own music for Pinoy fans.

Furthermore, another member of BIGSTAR said he considers the Philippines his “second province,” since he used to study English here.

MPire perform “Not that kind of person.”

Candid and charming MPire stayed true to what they said during their first trip here in July: “Filipinas are still beautiful.”

Fans are still enthralled by U-KISS.

Although U-KISS has no need to introduce themselves since they’ve been here several times, they insisted anyways—for their new member Jun. The band has been through several line-up changes and the latest was the departure of Shin Dongho, who cited citing health and personal reasons as his basis for leaving the group.

Even though Jun is a new member, he was received as warmly as the more established members.

'We’ll be coming back for a fan-meeting or a concert,' the boys promised.
