British band Bastille to rock Manila in January

The boys of Bastille (from left): Bassist William Farquarson, keyboardist Kyle Simmons, singer and songwriter Dan Smith and drummer Chris Wood.

"Fans of the big pop chorus and powerful male lead vocal should snap this up," said Drowned In Sound's review of "Bad Blood," the debut album released last year by Bastille. And soon, Pinoy fans will be able to experience both live when the British rockers perform at the World Trade Center on January 5.

Formed in 2010, the band consists of Dan Smith (vocals), William Farquarson (bassist), Kyle Simmons (keyboards) and Chris Wood (drums).

In the brief four years since then, Bastille have performed at Coachella and on "Saturday Night Live," toured as support acts for artists like Emeli Sande and Muse, and had their music featured on shows like "The Vampire Diaries." Along the way, they've also performed some entertaining covers, such as those of Miley Cyrus "We Can't Stop" and Bruno Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven."

The band was also featured in David Lynch's remix EP of his own 2013 album, "The Big Dream," performing their version of the single "Are You Sure".

Despite mixed reviews, "Bad Blood" debuted in the top spot of the UK Albums Chart last year and spawned six singles: "Overjoyed", "Bad Blood", "Flaws", "Pompeii", "Laura Palmer" and "Things We Lost in the Fire."

It was also the top in UK digital downloads last year, as well as the UK's biggest selling debut album of 2013.

Their success led to their being nominated in four categories at this year's BRIT Awards: British Breakthrough Act, British Group, British Single (for "Pompeii") and British Album of the Year.

They won British Breakthrough Act.
