Due to PHL success in beauty pageants, intl hopefuls now training here

Thanks to the Philippines' triumphs in international pageants over the years, beauty queens from Myanmar, Thailand, and other countries have opted to train in the country in preparation for their own competitions.

The young women are interested in the kind of training that Filipina beauty queens undergo, according to a report on "24 Oras" Monday.

"Beauty queens in the Philippines are always successful. I hope they can make us successful, too," said Miss Earth Thailand.

Four Filipino trainers from one company, Gouldian, will supervise the training of the foreign beauty queens.

This will include lessons on proper posture, the catwalk, dressing, makeup and social graces, as well as question-and-answer training.

Trainer Macoy Manlapaz said that they have also invited some of the FIlipina beauty queens to give the students motivational talks.

But having foreign beauty queens for students doesn't mean that the trainers' allegiance has changed, they said. "Filipinos pa rin kami so we will definitely support [Filipinas] pa rin. Kahit saang pageant 'yan, Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Inter-Continental, Miss Supra-National," said Manlapaz. — Bianca Rose Dabu/BM, GMA News
