‘Modern Luxe’ at The Spa Wellness
There is not a lot of variation when it comes to spa interiors—The Spa Wellness in Shangri-La Plaza's East Wing doesn't push the envelope either. But what it lacks in innovation it makes up for in luxuriousness—or, as The Spa's press materials call the design, "Modern Luxe."
Whatever "Modern Luxe" is, it seems primed to soothe frazzled nerves and exhausted bodies with soft lighting and a muted color palette—and if you are the spa-going type, then you will probably appreciate The Spa's utter spa-ness.
Members of the media were given a tour of the place during its launch. Leaving the spacious reception area to enter the spa proper, we made our way through gray, narrow, softly lit corridors to their rooms, marked by wall vases next to each door.
The most brightly lit area in the spa is the studio, where exercisers join the barre3 classes. Barre3 combines Pilates, yoga, and ballet barre exercises and uses mats, weights, and balls.
There is another room in another part of the maze where several armchairs are arrayed against the wall and masseuses are on standby—just the thing if your day out with friends includes time for a massage.
According to one of the spa's staff, many of their clients come for a massage or a facial, and some even fly in for a Thermage spa procedure, but about 20 to 30 percent of The Spa Wellness' Metro Manila-based clients go for the whole shebang—skin care, spa/massage, and barre3—every time they visit.
If that sounds like your thing, The Spa Wellness' ninth branch is open for business.
