Star-studded movies at the Cine Filipino Film Festival
By VIDA CRUZ GMA News
With the ambition to showcase more great stories through the film medium, this new film festival is full of great promise on its first year and has already attracted many of the country's most acclaimed talents.
Among the highlights of the festival are Nora Aunor's titular role as a healer from Nueva Vizcaya in the family drama “Ang Kwento Ni Mabuti” and the docu-drama based on the life of Joma Sison called “Guerilla Is A Poet” by filmmakers and siblings Sari and Kiri Dalena.
One of the major differences that sets Cine Filipino apart is that, unlike other film festivals, the organizers are offering a significantly higher seed grant of P1.5 million to eight deserving screenplays.
Documentaries, family dramas, comedies, suspense thrillers, love stories, homosexuals coming-of-age, and sibling rivalries make up the roster of the Cine Filipino Film Festival's first year in local theaters.
