Praises were heaped on Jaime Mayor, 48, at a ceremony for Mayor, according to a report by radio dzBB's Cecilia Villarosa.

The report also said Mayor received some P20,000 in "rewards."

At the ceremony, National Parks Development Committee head Juliet Villegas said they hope Filipinos emulate Mayor's example of honesty.

Earlier, Mayor returned a wallet containing 4,000 euros to a French tourist visiting Manila.

He recalled running after the tourist who left the wallet, to return the item to her. She hugged him in gratitude for his honesty.

Only last Monday, a janitor at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) was also honored for his honesty where he returned a bag full of valuables.

At the Monday flag ceremony, Ronald Gadayan, 28, received a commendation from the Manila International Airport Authority and applause from his colleagues.

Last week, Gadayan returned a bag with more than P600,000 in cash and valuables belonging to a passenger heading for Cebu.

He had alerted ground staff of Philippine Airlines, who turned over the bag to airport authorities. –KG, GMA News
