Sinulog Festival 2025: DOT issues advisory for travelers
Five days before the Sinulog 2025 Grand Parade, the Department of Tourism (DOT) Central Visayas Office issued an advisory to travelers for a safe and orderly celebration of the Sinulog Festival.
In a Facebook post, the DOT urged visitors to engage in the agency’s accredited tourism enterprises such as hotels, transportation, travel and tour services, and tour guides.
Tourists were also reminded to be vigilant of their surroundings and mindful of their belongings, especially in crowded areas.
They were advised to keep a list of updated emergency hotlines, including the police, hospitals, and rescue teams.
Tourists may dial 911 for immediate assistance. They also contact the Cebu City Government Command Control Central through 0932 537 7770, 0917 839 9896, or 262 1427.
DOT urged tourists to follow safety protocols and directions from authorities.
To ensure one’s well-being, attendees of the Sinulog Festival were advised to stay hydrated, know the first-aid stations, and practice proper hygiene like washing hands and wearing facemasks if necessary in crowded places.
The DOT also called on tourists to participate in religious and cultural activities with respect, like wearing modest attires during Eucharistic celebrations and religious processions.
Attendees of the Sinulog Festival were urged to maintain cleanliness and avoid utilizing single-use plastics.
Celebrated every third Sunday of January in Cebu City, the Sinulog festival honors the Santo Niño or the child Jesus, who is the patron saint of Cebu province.
At least 40 contingents are set to compete in the Sinulog Grand Showdown 2025 at the Cebu City Sports Center on January 19.
A fluvial parade is scheduled on January 18 while a grand parade will also be held on January 19.
DOT also posted the schedule of the other activities.
