Hidilyn Diaz, husband Julius Naranjo get tattooed by Apo Whang-Od
Hidilyn Diaz and her husband and coach Julius Naranjo got tattooed by none other than Apo Whang-Od.
As seen in Julius' latest Instagram post, the couple visited the oldest and last mambabatok in Buscalan Village in Kalinga. Hidilyn flexed her arm with Whang-Od’s three-dot signature.
Meanwhile, Julius got a larger sleeve tattoo from her prodigy, Grace, “which tells a story of courage, resilience, perseverance, and strength.”
In his caption, Julius said that the experience happened with two living legends.
“Last week I had the chance to meet a living legend in [Apo Whang-Od] and I was quickly reminded that I was actually with two living legends. One culturally and one through sports, [Hidilyn]. Both women embody strength & empower beauty through their talents and achievements,” he wrote.
Hidilyn and Julius got married in 2022. They celebrated their fifth anniversary that same year.
Hidilyn made history as the first Filipino athlete to win an Olympic gold medal, after winning the women's 55-kg weightlifting event of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
She vowed to continue weightlifting despite failing to qualify for the Paris Olympics this year.
