Andres Bonifacio manga released in commemoration of his 161st birthday

The story of Andres Bonifacio, the Father of the Philippine Revolution and one of the Philippines's national heroes, has been depicted in manga (Japanese comics).

A Davao-based company, Creative Connections & Commons, announced the news on Facebook.

The manga, released in time for Bonifacio's 161st birthday on November 30, was the brainchild of renowned creative Takahiro Matsui. The first chapter is now available for free viewing on Manga Club.

Bonifacio was among the heroes who fought against the Spaniards for the country's freedom. He was among the founders of the Katipunan, the revolutionary organization which sought Philippine independence from Spain.

Aside from Bonifacio, Takahiro also released a manga about Jose Rizal in time for his 157th birthday in 2018. Signed copies of the manga were turned over to the Philippine Embassy in Japan in 2021.
