FDCP's documentary film festival, Dokyumentado, to launch on November 22
The Film Development Council of the Philippines will launch its documentary film festival Dokyumentado this November.
The film fest will run from November 22 to December 7, with on-site screenings at the Cinematheque Centres in Manila (Nov. 24-29), Nabunturan (Nov. 25-Dec. 7), Davao (Nov. 27-Dec. 6), Iloilo (Nov. 27-Dec. 7), and Negros (Dec. 4-7).
The Dokyumentado Documentary Film Festival is an avenue for viewers to explore the rich and deep narratives of Filipino life and culture, according to the FDCP.
"By showcasing documentaries as powerful tools for social awareness and transformation, the festival celebrates the art of storytelling that illuminates realities, challenges perspectives and sparks meaningful changes," it said.
Seven feature films will be screened at the film festival, each accompanied by a short film partner.
- "Motherland" by Ramona Diaz with "Mama" by Alexandra Brizuela
- "Aswang" by Alyx Arumpac" with "Timbre" by Camille Samonte and Pam Bareo
- "Delikado" by Karl Malakunas with "Agoas" by Nathalie "Ally" Sanga
- "Last Days at Sea" by Venice Atienza with "Eksmen" by Heather Simonette and Rose M. Intong
- "Home of the Brave" by Baby Ruth Villarama with "Puti" by Jerald Yucot
- "Little Azkals" by Baby Ruth Villarama with "Sota" by Mae Tanagon
- "Pagtatag! The Documentary" by Jed Regala with "Beyond Spotlight" by Gian Linezo
Ramona Diaz's "And So It Begins," the Philippines' official entry to the 97th Academy Awards, will also have a special screening at the Dokyumentado Documentary Film Festival.
Moreover, attendees can catch student short films at the film fest, which are categorized into three sets: Arts and the Community, Childhood Memories, and Dokyukultura.

Aside from the abovementioned films, certain Cinematheque Centres will also screen curated selections of documentaries in their locations.

Those who won't be able to participate in the on-site screenings may stream select free and for-subscription documentaries on the FDCP's JuanFlix Channel from Nov. 22 to Dec. 7.
