Kara David to lead talkback session after ‘Lost Sabungeros’ screening on November 9
Kara David will lead the talkback session for "Lost Sabungeros," the first-ever investigative documentary of GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures, as it debuts at the QCinema International Film Festival.
According to a post by GMA Public Affairs, the award-winning Kapuso journalist will speak with the team behind the documentary and some of the relatives of the missing cockfighters after the film's screening.
The screening will be held on November 9, 8:35 p.m., at Cinema 16 in Gateway Mall, Quezon City.
“Lost Sabungeros” will have another screening on November 12, 1:45 p.m., at Cinema 15, Gateway.
During QCinema's media conference in October, "Lost Sabungeros" director Bryan Brazil expressed their joy for being given a platform to show the film to the public.
"Lost Sabungeros" was set to premiere in August at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, but its screenings were canceled by the festival due to "security concerns."
Following the cancellation of the film's premiere at Cinemalaya, Tolits Tan, one of its producers, told GMA News Online that Cinemalaya did not elaborate what these "security concerns" were.
Direk Bryan also said then that they were powerless over the film's cancellation and hoped what happened to them won't be a precedent for independent filmmakers.
"Lost Sabungeros" delves into the disappearances of over 30 sabungeros or cockfighters who have been missing since 2021. Its production team took more than two years to create the documentary despite the threats against their lives.
