Miss Grand International revokes Ms. Myanmar of her 2nd runner-up title
Miss Grand International has revoked the 2nd runner-up title of Ms. Myanmar Thae Syu Nein.
On social media Monday afternoon, the beauty organization announced the decision saying they did so "due to inappropriate behavior and actions that violated several regulations."
"This announcement is made for your information," it added.
Earlier, Thai media reported that the president of Miss Grand International, Nawat Itsaragrisil, has terminated the franchise Myanmar in the pageant after Thae Syu Nein rejected the crown following her second runner-up finish in the competition.
"What makes her so delusional?" Khaosod English reported Nawat as saying. "If she wants first place and must have it, I suggest she create her own pageant so she can win every title."
According to the report, MGI has issued a lifetime ban against Miss Grand Myanmar National Director Htoo Ant Lwin due to "lack of sportsmanship and business credibility."
After MGI's 2024 coronation night, Thae Syu Nein of Myanmar announced on a Facebook Live her intentions to relinquish her crown.
"I'm not controlled by anyone. I just take my own decision. I give back my second-runner up crown just because we don't get what we deserve," she said.
India's Rachel Gupta won the crown, while Philippines' CJ Opieza was hailed 1st runner up.
