Look! A National Arts and Crafts Fair is taking place next week and admission is free
If you're in the market for local arts and crafts, look no further than the National Arts and Crafts Fair.
Taking place from October 23-27 at the Megatrade Hall in SM Megamall, the National Arts and Crafts Fair is bringing together more than 250 exhibitors from all across the Philippines to showcase not only the diverse range of handcrafted and artisanal products of the country, but also the gorgeous marriage of traditional Filipino craftsmanship with modern innovation. Textiles, home decor, fashion accessories, and heritage crafts are just a few things you can expect from the fair.
An event that puts front and center the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines, NACF 2024 supports local artisans, traditional communities, and micro-small and medium enterprises so you will not only get OG things from the provinces and regions but bet able to help and support sustainable livelihoods.
This year, especially highlight will be given to the community-managed Schools of Living Traditions (SLTs), which preserve traditional craftsmanship. Time-honored techniques from communities across the Philippines, including carved woodworks, intricate beadwork, and handwoven textiles can be expected.
But the fair isn't just about buying things. There are also workshops and live demonstrations that will help educate fair-goers about the importance of preserving Filipino arts and crafts, ensure traditional techniques are passed down to the next generation, and inspire not just artisans but consumers to support local. Entrance to the fair is free of change.
The NACF 2024 is presented by the Department of Trade and Industry, Bureau of Market Development, Promotions, and OTOP, in collaboration with the Office of Senator Loren Legarda.
