The Philippines has been featured at the 2024 Migrants Arirang Multicultural Festival (MAMF) in South Korea.

The country was selected among participating nations in Asia and Latin America in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between South Korea and the Philippines.

In his congratulatory speech, Commission on Filipinos Overseas Secretary Romulo Arugay said that there are 16,774 Filipino migrants in South Korea.

“Once a culturally homogeneous society, South Korea now embraces a growing number of migrant workers and international students, with foreign nationals accounting for nearly 3.3% of the population. Thank you for welcoming Filipinos here,” he said.

“I express my most profound appreciation for the designation of the Philippines as a Featured Country, promising vibrant and dynamic participation in the festival,” he added.

The CFO and the Philippine Embassy in South Korea continue to collaborate on projects to further ensure the welfare of Filipino migrants in the country.

MAMF 2024, with the theme "Together to Gather," is the largest cultural diversity festival in South Korea, with over 21 participating countries showcasing various festivals and cultural performances.

The festival runs from October 11 to 13 at the Yongji Cultural Park and Seongsan Art Hall in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
