Filipina-Bahraini Shereen Ahmed is Miss Universe Bahrain 2024
Another Filipina is set to grace the Miss Universe 2024 stage!
Shereen Ahmed, a half-Filipina and half-Bahraini woman, has been crowned Miss Universe Bahrain 2024 and will be competing for the prestigious Miss Universe crown.
On her Instagram, Shereen said she had previously joined Miss Universe Bahrain in 2022, but fell short in clinching the crown and placed 2nd runner-up.
She continued her job as a TV presenter, and then she discovered the story of Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee.
“Watching her journey inspired me and reignited my passion for pageantry, giving me hope during difficult times,” she said.
The 29-year-old Shereen then found out about the pageant’s age limit removal, took the opportunity, and finally won the Miss Universe Bahrain title.
In a message sent to GMA News Online, Shereen said her mother is a Caviteña and her father is the one from the Middle Eastern country.
The beauty queen also said she’s so excited and grateful for the support she’s been receiving from fellow Filipinos.
“The support galing sa mga Pinoys has already warmed my heart - so talagang mas nakaka-excite,” she wrote with a heart and a crying emoji.
Shereen is now the fourth Filipina vying for this year’s title.
“[I] cannot believe I will get to share the stage with three women who I looked up to during my own pageant trainings,” she said.
She will be competing alongside fellow Filipinas, the Philippines’ Chelsea Manalo, Great Britain’s Christina Dela Cruz Chalk, and New Zealand’s Victoria Velasquez Vincent.
The Miss Universe 2024 coronation night is happening on November 16 at the Arena CDMX in Mexico.
