'Six the Musical' opens in Manila

The Tudor queens are here, and they're about to tell you a story!

"Six the Musical," written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, on Saturday opened in Manila

It tells the story of the six wives of King Henry VIII, namely Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr.

Raising our flag, Filipino-American Yna Tresvalles stars as Anne Boleyn in the Tony Award-winning musical.

She shares the stage with Billie Kerr (Catherine of Aragon), Liberty Stottor (Jane Seymour), Hannah Victoria (Anne of Cleves), Lizzie Emery (Katherine Howard), and Eloise Lord (Catherine Parr).

Each queen is inspired by a 21st-century pop star even as the play boasts historical accuracy.

Among the popular songs in the musical are "Ex-Wives," "I Don't Need Your Love," "Six," and "No Way."

For a very limited season, the musical will run from October 5 to 20 at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque City under GMG Productions.

Tickets are available via Ticketworld online and outlets nationwide, with prices ranging from P1,798.60 for balcony seats to P5,078.40 for orchestra.

"Six the Musical" debuted at the Edinburgh Festival in 2017 and premiered in the West End and on Broadway in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

It has gone on to win 35 major international awards, including two Tony Awards and a nomination at the Grammys.
