SB19 says Billboard Korea's Voices of Asia Award brings Filipino artistry to the global stage
SB19 on Tuesday received the Voices of Asia award at Billboard Korea’s Billboard K Power 100 event in Seoul, South Korea.
In their acceptance speech, Josh said that the achievement not just belongs to the group, “but to the entire P-pop movement, OPM, and of course, to every Filipino sharing their creativity and passion across Asia and the world.”
The singer added a shoutout to fellow P-Pop group and awardee, BINI. “BINI, we are very proud of you. They have been making waves right now.”
The group also thanked their loyal fans A’TIN and their families for the love and support.
Pablo added a message to Filipino artists and to the music legends who came before them.
“You inspire us so much to grow and to excel without losing heart. And as Voices of Asia, we are so proud to stand alongside our fellow Asian artists, showcasing the diversity and richness of our cultures through our music,” he said.
“This award represents the P-pop community’s mission and that is to bring the Filipino artistry to the global stage, starting right here in Asia," he added.
To his fellow artists, Pablo said, “Let’s keep working hard, let’s strive for excellence, and let’s create with a heart of service for ourselves, our fans, and to God.”
The Billboard K Power 100 event served as the launching of Billboard Korea, and an event to highlight the influence of Korean music on the global scene. It was held on August 27 at the Yeong Bin Gwan Hall of The Shilla Seoul.
SB19 brought a fiery performance of their top hit “Gento.”
The P-Pop Kings won the Billboard Fan Army Face-Off 2024 on Friday morning. They were also the first cover stars of Billboard Philippines in 2023, and the first Filipino artists to be nominated for Top Social Artist at the Billboard Music Awards in 2021.
Earlier this month, SB19 and Gloc-9 released their latest single “Kalakal.” It is an anthem that discusses Filipino consumerism, and showcases the artists’ journey of hard work, perseverance, humility, and pure talent. Its music video is coming out in September.
The group’s documentary film all about their “PAGTATAG!” era premieres on Wednesday.
