Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Alden Richards, more win big at 40th PMPC Star Awards


The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) just released the partial list of winners at the 40th PMPC Star Awards on Friday ahead of the Gabi ng Parangal, which is happening on July 21.

Among the winners are Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera, Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards, and more!

Marian and Dingdong won the Takilya King and Queen award for their movie, "Rewind," which is the highest grossing Philippine film of all time.

Meanwhile, Alden won the Movie Loveteam of the Year award alongside Julia Montes for their roles as Lance and Justine in "Five Breakups and a Romance."

Gladys Reyes also won Movie Supporting Actress of the Year for comedy film "Here Comes the Groom."

"Firefly" star Euwenn Mikaell bagged the Movie Child Performer of the Year award for his role as Tonton in award-winning director Zig Dulay's "Firefly."

Sparkle stars Ysabel Ortega and Dustin Yu, on the other hand, won the New Movie Actress of the Year and New Movie Actor of the Year awards, respectively, for "Firefly" and "Shake Rattle and Roll: Extreme ("Rage" episode)."

Neil Daza likewise bagged the Cinematographer of the Year award for his work in the acclaimed "Firefly," while Francis Concio won Movie Musical Scorer of the Year for "Rewind."

The rest of the winners in the major categories will be announced on the Gabi ng Parangal on July 21 at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater in Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City.

"Firefly" secured 15 nominations at the 40th PMPC Star Awards and has now taken home three, thus far.
