Who is our Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2024 Jasmin Bungay?
Jasmin Bungay is Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2024!
At a recently concluded Binibining Pilipinas coronation night held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, the beauty queen from Pampanga was crowned by her predecessor, Miss Globe 2023 second runner-up Anna Lakrini.
Jasmin will vie for the Philippines’ third Miss Globe crown in October, following the victories of Ann Lorraine Colis in 2015 and Maureen Montagne in 2021.
At the coronation event Sunday, she gave a splashing answer at the Q&A, that showed she's not just a proud ally, but an informed one, of the LGBT+ community. "As an individual, it is our responsibility that we ensure that everyone is treated equally despite their SOGIE," she said.
Here are five interesting facts about the Kapampangan queen.
1. She advocates for the rights of the LGBT+ community
At the nerve-wracking segment of the competition, Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz asked Jasmin what she'd like to talk about with the public if given 30 minutes to do so.
Said Jasmin, “If I [were] given 30 minutes to talk to the public, I would like to talk about the passing of the SOGIESC (Equality) Bill because in celebrations such as pageants, this community has contributed so much and in this regard, we can give back to them by supporting this cause because as an individual, it is our responsibility that we ensure that everyone is treated equally despite their SOGIE.”
2. She was an editor-in-chief of her school’s publication
Jasmin has an affinity for writing. In fact, she was the editor-in-chief of her school’s publication back in her elementary and high school days.
When she and her fellow Binibining Pilipinas candidates visited the newsroom of Manila Bulletin, Jasmin said, “It brought back a lot of memories” of her EIC stint.
3. Jasmin loves to travel
Her Instagram page shows just how much of the world she has already seen. There's Belgium, Switzerland, Amsterdam, Japan, several parts of the Philippines, Indonesia, Turkiye, and so it goes.
4. She is one spontaneous woman
When traveling, Jasmin is the type of company that would go out of the itinerary in the name of spontaneity. She likes going on adventures and we love to see it!
5. She’s a runway model
Aside from being a frontrunner beauty queen, Jasmin is also a runway model, having walked the shows of Harvey Cenit and attended several fashion shows of Michael Cinco and Ezra Couture.
