Lea Salonga and Dolly De Leon to star in ‘Request sa Radyo’ stage play

Lea Salonga and Dolly De Leon, two of the world’s most acclaimed Filipino artists, are set to star in “Request sa Radyo,” a Filipino adaptation of “Wunschkonzert” or “Request Program” by Franz Xaver Kroetz.

Lea and Dolly will alternately perform the solo piece in a limited engagement from October 10 to 20.

“Request Sa Radyo” is a wordless play that blurs the lines between theater and performance art.

The play captures the moving solitude of a woman through her meticulous evening routine. As she navigates her quiet, solitary life, her actions and her favorite radio program reveal the profound loneliness and yearning for connection that lies beneath.

The play is a powerful exploration of isolation and the human condition. This unique theatrical experience transforms the mundane into the extraordinary through silence, and leaves the audience contemplating the depths of solitude long after the curtain falls.

The play was adapted based on the Filipino experience and invites audiences to find extraordinary meaning in the everyday.

“Request Sa Radyo” is produced by Tony Winner Clint Ramos, Bobby Garcia who will also serve as the director, and Christopher Mohnani for Ayala Land and GMG Productions.

According to Lea, “When I was asked by Clint and Bobby if I was interested at all in this project, an experience that told a probable and possible story that absolutely applies to our people, I said sure, even before knowing the details.”

Dolly meanwhile expressed her excitement. “I’m so looking forward to coming back to my first love, the theatre after five long years and I am equally excited that it is in ‘Request Sa Radyo’ – a play that is relevant and timely,” the Golden Globes and BAFTAs nominee said.“Request sa Radyo” is Kroetz’s landmark theatrical piece,

“Request sa Radyo” will only have 20 performances between October 10 until October 20 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theatre in Makati City.

First access to tickets is available on www.RequestSaRadyo.com.
