Howie Severino honored with Metrobank Foundation Award for Continuing Excellence and Service


Howie Severino was among the Filipino journalists honored by the 5th Metrobank Foundation Award for Continuing Excellence and Service.

Severino was awarded for continuing to "exemplify responsible journalism, combat disinformation, mentor future journalists, and participate in community projects,” Metrobank Foundation said on Facebook.

The award-winning veteran Kapuso journalist was also named Metrobank Foundation Journalist of the Year in 2015.

Other awardees this year include Rappler’s Editor at Large Marites Vitug and TV5 News and Current Affairs Anchor Jiggy Manicad.

Howie Severino is best known for his documentaries across a wide range of topics and for hosting “The Howie Severino Podcast” focusing on intellectual conversations. He currently works as an editorial consultant for GMA Network.

Severino is also an advocate and teacher of Baybayin, the Filipino pre-colonial writing script.
