'Firefly' bags top awards at Manila International Film Festival in California

“ Firefly ” has won several top awards at the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) in Hollywood, California. Produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs, the film was named the MIFF Best Picture.

Alessandra De Rossi, who plays TonTon’s mother Elay, won Best Supporting Actress.

Zig Dulay was named Best Director, and screenwriter and GMA Public Affairs Assistant Vice President Angeli Atienza won the Best Screenplay award.

" Firefly " is a magical realism film that follows TonTon (Euwenn Mikaell Aleta), who searches for the mythical island described in his mother's stories.

It won the Metro Manila Film Festival Best Picture award and Euwenn was named Best Child Actor.

More stars include Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega , Max Collins, Yayo Aguila, Cherry Pie Picache, and Epy Quizon.
