Ambeth Ocampo takes notice of museum visitor who bears an uncanny resemblance to his mom
None other than Ambeth Ocampo took notice of a National Museum visitor, who went viral for bearing an uncanny resemblance to Belen Ocampo, the mother of the renowned Filipino historian.
Veronica Balayo took to TikTok to share her most interesting visit to the National Museum last week.
Posting photos of the display and then posing beside it, Veronica said she "found this photo of a girl, and it kinda looks like…me, now and then?”
“Am I her reincarnation?” she added.
It seems she's not the only one who can see the resemblance because as of writing, her TikTok post has over 600,000 likes and over 5 million views on the platform. Even Ocampo himself got a whiff of her, well, most interesting encounter and left a comment.
"So you are my reincarnated mother? Winner!!!” he said.
On Facebook, Ocampo shared some screenshots from the Veronica's viral TikTok post and said, “Trending on Tiktok video this morning was the post of Veronica Balayo, a recent visitor to the National Museum who resembles a photo-oleo of my mother from the 1950s! The video has earned over 400,000 likes."
In an online interview with GMA News Online, Veronica admitted she initially didn’t know who was in the photo.
“I thought why does it look like me?” she told GMA News Online.
“My initial reaction was why does it look like me? After that I can’t stop looking at our photo,” Veronica added.
Then she revealed the nagging question in her mind: "Is this my second life?”
By the way, a foto-óleo is an art form popular during the mid-19th to mid-20th centuries, before colored photography was invented. In case you were wondering.
