'Iti Mapukpukaw' is coming to Netflix!

“Iti Mapukpukaw (The Missing)” will start streaming on Netflix soon!

The award-winning animated film will be available on the streaming service platform on February 24.

Directed by Carl Joseph Papa, "Iti Mapukpukaw" is a rotoscope animated film that follows Eric, a Filipino animator who does not have a mouth. His memories get untangled with the arrival of an alien.

The film stars Carlo Aquino, Dolly de Leon, and Gio Gahol.

It was hailed as the Best Film at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival 2023. It also won the NETPAC Award for full-length feature films.

The film also made history as the festival’s first animated full-length entry. Ninety animators worked on "Iti Mapukpukaw." It was co-produced by Project 8 and GMA Public Affairs First Vice President and GMA Pictures Senior Vice President Nessa Valdellon.

"Iti Mapukpukaw" was also the Philippines' entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 96th Academy Awards.

However, it was not chosen as one of the five nominees, with movies from Italy, Japan, Spain, Germany, and the United Kingdom making the final cut. — Carby Basina/VBL, GMA Integrated News
