The Parokya musical was first announced on July 23 during the final curtain call of “Ang Huling El Bimbo” at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.

As the cast was singing “Harana,” symbols flashed on the screen behind them, representing some of Parokya's band’s top hits.

A contest was held for fans to guess the jukebox musical’s title, where the lucky ones will receive an exclusive invitation to a special preview of the show, ahead of its public premiere.

“Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya ni Edgar Musical” brings El Bimbo director Dexter M. Santos back together with artistic directors Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo and Michael Williams.

Parokya ni Edgar, one of the Philippines’ most iconic bands, is composed of Chito Miranda, Gab Chee Kee, Buwi Meneses, Darius Semaña, Dindin Moreno, and Vinci Montaner.

By the way, “Buruguduystunstugudunstuy” is Parokya’s debut album released in 1997. It is home to the OPM classics “Harana,” “Silvertoes,” “Sayang,” and “Please Don’t Touch My Birdie.”
