NHCP releases facsimile of Noli Me Tangere's original manuscript
You can now have a copy of the original manuscript of Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere.
On Facebook, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) announced the release of the facsimile (faithful reproduction) of the original Spanish manuscript of Rizal’s famous novel.
According to the Commission, the original Spanish manuscript as written by Rizal contained his own handwriting, his edits, corrections, and deletions which he submitted to the typesetters of Berliner Buchdruckerei Aktiengesellschaft in Berlin, Germany in March 1887.
The book is priced at P2,450 each and individuals may purchase the book by calling NHCP's Property Section at (02) 5335-1209, Mondays to Fridays except for holidays, or email the agency at property@nhcp.gov.ph.
Last December, NHCP unveiled the Memory Project, a website that contains free Philippine history materials including the Tagalog and Spanish versions of Jose Rizal's Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.
Individuals may view and download the material as well as conduct research on local and national history by visiting NHCP's website.
