Cedrick Juan on nude scenes in films, projects: 'There's nothing wrong with it'
Cedrick Juan said he doesn't mind doing nude scenes for films and creative projects as long as it's not for exploitation.
In Wednesday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the best actor in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 said as an artist, he must tell the story of the character he's portraying, no matter what it takes.
"Artist kasi ako eh, so you tell stories you represent, lalo na kung makatutulong siya sa mga may negative connotations na communities," Cedrick said.
"Gusto mo mabawasan' yung mga taboos na topics so 'yun 'yung part namin as an actor to somehow tell that story," he added.
When asked about his boundaries on doing nude scenes, the "GomBurZa" star said he has none.
"There's nothing wrong with doing nudity," he said.
"Wala [akong boundaries], for as long as justified 'yung mga gagawin and hindi siya exploitation," he added.
In the same interview, Cedrick expressed his intent to work with Bianca Umali if an opportunity arises for him in GMA Network.
Cedrick was the breakout star of "GomBurZa," a historical film about the three martyr priests: Mariano Gómez, José Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora.
The 33-year-old theater actor portrayed Burgos' character, which won him the Best Actor recognition in MMFF 2023.
Aside from Cedrick's Best Actor win, "GomBurZa" also took home 2nd Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Sound Design, and the Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award.
