Beauty Gonzalez willing to donate excavated gold she wore at GMA Gala 2023 to a museum

Beauty Gonzalez said she is willing to donate to a museum the excavated gold necklace that she wore at the GMA Gala 2023.

The actress was criticized by independent curator Marian Pastor Roces earlier this year for her decision to wear the almost a thousand year old jewelry, saying that the gold came from orifice covers worn by the deceased.

On Wednesday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Beauty said she chose to delay her response to the criticism because "it's a very unending conversation," but she respects Marian's opinion.

"I don't think I did something wrong. Some people think it may be wrong, but you know, I was waiting for a call, but nobody called me," Beauty said.

The Kapuso actress said would be happy to donate her prized possession to a credible museum, but nobody has reached out to her for it.

"I was willing to give it, yeah, I was willing," she said. "Basta maganda 'yung puwesto, may pangalan namin doon because it's years of love and collection of me and my husband."

Nonetheless, Beauty said she wore the excavated gold at the GMA Gala with only good intentions and is proud of it.

"I was thinking kasi when everybody wears western jewelry, I wanna wear something that is made from the Philippines," she said. "Gawa talaga ng Philippine gold 'yan at ginawa ng mga Filipinos thousands of years ago."

"I was really proud of wearing it, 'cause di ko pinatunaw, it is as it is, ginawa ko siyang jewelry," she said.

Beauty said she also spoke about the issue with her husband, art curator Norman Crisologo, who told her not to mind the criticism.

"'Di ka naman nagpatay ng tao, 'di ka nagholdap, 'di ka nagkidnap. You're just wearing art and art is not to be understood. The more it's not understood the beautiful it is," she said.

The ancestral pieces of jewelry were reworked by local bespoke jeweler Riqueza Fine Jewellery and had already made a previous appearance at the National Museum and Ayala Museum.

Beauty got married to Norman in 2017. They have a daughter, Olivia Ines.
