This free event will transport you to Mindanao’s captivating beauty and culture

Mindanao State University (MSU) is set to hold the Rawaten 2023 Cultural Extravaganza event — for free!

Happening on October 6 at the at the Metropolitan Theater, Rawaten 2023 will feature about 150 talented performers representing cultural dance troupes and theatrical organizations from MSU campuses, including the Kulintang Masters and Onors, Kalimulan Cultural Dance Troupe, Sulu Performing Artists, and more.

Directed by Tom Russ, Rawaten 2023 aims to transport guests to a world that will shine a spotlight on the ethnic and linguistic communities that make up the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) by showcasing the traditional dances, songs, chants, and artistic expressions of the Indigenous Peoples of Mindanao.

According to the MSU, the program seeks to create an “immersive experience that highlights the importance of water in the lives of these communities, emphasizing the inseparable relationship between water, livelihood, and artistic expression.”

Interested guests are encouraged to reserve their seats for the Matinee (3:00 pm) and Gala (8:00 pm) shows.

Meanwhile, the Rawaten 2023 Collection is already up for viewing on YouTube.
