Chito Miranda reveals title of Parokya Ni Edgar musical: 'Buruguduystunstugudunstuy'
The title of the Parokya Ni Edgar musical has been revealed!
In a video with the "Bagsakan" riff playing in the background, Chito Miranda made the reveal, saying, “’Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya Ni Edgar Musical.’ Abangan niyo, 2024.”
NWR Musicals also immediately opened a casting call for the musical from September 12 to October 1. Actors aged 18 to 50 are encouraged to email their Parokya song covers to PNE2024@gmail.com
A contest was held for fans to guess the title of the Parokya ni Edgar jukebox musical, where the lucky ones will receive an exclusive invitation to a special preview of the show ahead of its public premiere. Winners will be announced on NWR Musical’s Facebook page.
The Parokya musical was first announced during the final curtain call of “Ang Huling El Bimbo” at the Newport Performing Arts Theater last July, with the cast singing “Harana” and symbols flashing on the screen behind them, representing some of the band’s top hits.
The Parokya musical will be done by Newport World Resorts’ production outfit Full House Theater Company, the same group behind the “Ang Huling El Bimbo” musical.
Why “Buruguduystunstugudunstuy” you may ask? That's the the title of Parokya’s debut album released in 1997.
It is home to the OPM classics “Harana,” “Silvertoes,” “Sayang,” and “Please Don’t Touch My Birdie.”
More of the band’s hits include “Your Song,” “Pangarap Lang Kita,” “Gitara,” and “Halaga.”
