Jose Mari Chan has assignment for ‘ber months’ meme makers

With the "ber" months upon us and paving the way for the longest Christmas celebration in the world, every Filipino's favorite Christmas carol singer Jose Mari Chan has a message—and a wish—for meme makers using his image to signal the holidays drawing near.

"Thank you very much for making me one of the symbols of Philippine Christmas and I would like to meet you one day," Tito Joe said in an interview with Susan Enriquez in the latest episode of "IJuander." 

Saying he'd like to pitch an idea for a meme, Tito Joe said, "I'd like to see a meme where I'm waking up early in the morning and there's a parol in the window."

"Wow, it's Christmas!" he added.

Susan quipped meme makers now have an assignment from their favorite Christmas personality.

Tito Joe's "Christmas in our Hearts" has been a staple in the country's celebration of Christmas for decades. 

And for probably ten years, so are the memes featuring images of Jose Mari Chan teasing about the coming holidays.

"I'm amused but at the same time I'm conscious na I don't want people to think na I'm trying to attract attention to myself. Because Christmas itself is not about me," Tito Joe said.

"Christmas is about the birth our Lord Jesus Christ and that should be the main focus of the Christmas season," he added. —NB, GMA Integrated News
